Oils and Creams for Stretch Marks

Any unexpected weight gain or large stretching of the body due to something like growth spurts or pregnancy can often have a very detrimental effect on one’s skin. There are many different solutions and options to trying to prevent the outgrowth of stretch marks, but sometimes you might find that you have to use a combination of different techniques in order to make your skin keep its elasticity and not end up with scars.
First of all, you’ll need to know what problem is causing the potential stretch marks. For example, if you are finding the occasional blemish due to a growth spurt, then you will need to start a daily regimen that will help to alleviate the possibility for these to appear. Also, it will probably be helpful if you used a combination of something like Vitamin E pills and oil, as well as treating particular problem areas with coco butter creams. This is because growth spurts can wreak havoc on the skin, especially around the joints, and you will probably need more than one type of treatment to make it through this time without ending up with too many scars.

When you are pregnant and you want to try and avoid getting any unsightly stretch marks, then one of the best things you can do is to rub your skin with Vitamin E oil right when you get out of the bath or shower, concentrating on the abdomen, hips, thighs, and breasts. Then, at least once throughout the day (generally speaking you should want to do this before bedtime) you’ll need to rub in some cream or lotion to these same problem areas. Make sure that you clear everything with your doctor and discuss your concerns about the appearance of stretch marks as they may have a recommendation about the types of lotions or creams you should use.

If you are concerned about stretch marks resulting from an unexpected weight gain, then you can probably help prevent these occurrences through the regular use of a lotion or cream. You should apply this moisturizer each day either when you get out of the shower or when you go to bed. It will not hurt to do both, and can only help your chances of reducing the unsightly blemishes. If you are experiencing problem areas like your hips or waist, then you can concentrate a lot of the moisturizer in that area for added protection.

It is important to pay specific attention to those areas which are at highest risk for having the most pressure put on the skin in order to avoid stretch marks. This is because the reason for the appearance of these scars is that the skin stretches so far that it loses its ability to be elastic any longer and the stretch marks are actually like tears in the surface of the skin that were made when it was pulled past its limit. So focusing on these areas that are under the most strain will help to reduce the likelihood of these occurrences in the problem zones.
